This year we will be holding our first annual food drive, collecting canned goods and dry goods to donate to the Oregon Food Bank in honor of Louis Geannopoulos, the late son of our retired Director of Operations Geni Geannopoulos.
At the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, approximately 1.7 million community members needed food assistance. Community and organization food drives help the Oregon Food Bank make sure those families can get emergency food assistance when they need it.
Every donation helps and we hope that our club wide donations will assist as many families as possible. One grocery bag of food can provide upwards of 10 meals. Here are some suggestions:
The Oregon Food Bank’s most requested food items:
● Peanut Butter & Almond Butter (low or no sugar)
● Beans (canned or dried)
● Whole Grain Cereal
● Shelf-stable Milk
● Cooking Oil
● Canned Tomatoes
● Other nutritious foods (preferably, healthy whole gran, low-fat, low-sodium, and low-sugar products).
We have also set up a cash donation link for anyone who would like to donate cash as well as food or in place of food. Link is below. https://give.oregonfoodbank.org/fundraiser/3587959
On November 29th, we will be collecting the food donations at the same location where players will be picking up their Winter Fund-raiser items, at a time to be determined. More detailed information will come from your team managers. Start collecting soon let’s make the NW Elite donation the largest from any youth sports organization in the Metro area!
