LINUS RHODE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR-ECNL/RL DIRECTOR OF 
COACHING -  USSF NATIONAL “A” LICENSE & USSF NATIONAL YOUTH LICENSE
Linus (Rhode) has been a full-time professional coach for over 23 years and has spent most of his life in the state of Oregon. He possesses a deep understanding of the Northwest region as well as a large network that has been built since 1992. Early in his career, Linus was the Director of Coaching for Oregon United Soccer Academy. Where he merged clubs from the Willamette Valley, Bend, and Southern Oregon to form a club that was extremely successful in Oregon, Region IV and Nationally from 2000-2005. He also served five years as an Oregon Olympic Development Team Head Coach, in addition to being a Region IV staff coach for both the boys’ and girls’ ODP programs. During this period, Linus ran the Youth and “C” level coaching education courses in Oregon, under the direction of Jimmy Conway.

Rhode started his collegiate coaching career in 2000 at Oregon State University as an Assistant Coach. He was then hired as Head Coach from 2008 to 2018. While at the helm as Head Coach, Linus led the Beavers to their best ever finish playing Notre Dame in the Sweet Sixteen and three NCAA appearances thereafter. To this date, Linus is the most successful coach in Oregon State’s women's soccer history. Most recently, Linus has been a staff and team coach for the Portland Thorns in conjunction with running his personal business.

A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Linus grew up playing soccer in British Columbia, Canada, where he advanced to represent the Canadian National U-18, U-20 and Olympic Teams from 1989-1996. Collegiately, he was recruited by legendary coach Clive Charles, where he played for the Pilots from 1992-1995. During his career Linus earned All-American status, captained the team to a Final Four finish in 1995, and remains in the record books as 5th in all-time points earned. As a professional player he played for New Orleans in the American “A” League and Wynberg St. John’s in South Africa.

Rhode graduated from the University of Portland with a Bachelor of Arts & Science in Organizational Communications. With his academic background and years of experience running an NCAA Division I Program along with a highly competitive youth club; you can anticipate transparent and timely communication. Linus will be instrumental in providing an organizational structure built to provide the best player experience, a love for the beautiful game and self-confidence to last a lifetime.
